Mo Bheannacht ar an Uisce ~ My Blessing on the Waters

Titeann an uisce ar an talamh agus níos déanaí beidh sé bheith neacha agus tá dúil acu na aibhneacha a cosaint agus iomláin an saoil a chabhraíonn uisce le cruthú. Éiríonn uisce caomhnóir de féin tríd an rith éabhlóide. Forásann sé chun féin-cosaint a dhéanamh.

Athnaomhaigh mé an Bun Abha inniu le ofráil dearcáin beannaithe agus d'aithris mé mo bheannacht uisce uirthi. Tháinig inspioráid dom go bhfuil orm na locha áitiúil a athnaomhú iad a insint go admhaím ár aontacht agus comhbheith in am nuair tá éadrom chomh leitheadach i measc an pobal. Tháinig an dán seo ó mo chreid i comhbheith, an slí a comhbhíonn an aigéan le gach uile rud beo. Cosúil le mo shinsir, fágfaidh mé ofrálacha do rúnda nach thuigfidh me riamh. Tugann meas go bhfuil rún saol umhlaíocht agus oscailteacht. Tá an abhainn seo úsáidte mar dig oscail agus is an-nimhe le ceimicí feirm is cothaithigh. Is an-gá di de athnaomhú. Bhí corr réisc tuirlingthe ar an bruach agus d'imigh sé ar eitleog nuair a shroiceadh mé an abhainn, agus luigh sé beag thuas an Abhainn. Chonaic me piasún ag fánaíocht i ngort in aice láithreach. Tá an abhainn timpeallaithe le féarach neamhthorthùil agus coillte measctha anseo. Anutaidh bhí an abhainn seo glas anraith pis le algae déanta an iomarca cothaithigh ó na féarach áitiùil saothraithe go dian. Ba cosúil na taobha cneasaithe nuair a bhí sé rómhartha chun é a thaoscadh. Tá dianriachtanais aici d'athnaomhú agus ligfidh sé seo go rachfaidh an tréimhse fulaingthe seo do Dúlra as. Críochníonn gach uile sibhialtacht luath nó mall. Fágfaidh muid ár dtóir neartmhar de teicneolaíocht agus fillfidh muid ar Dúlra, ár mbaile, agus uaidh atáimid déanta ó cré go comhfhiosacht. Thóg an ginias Dúlra carriage is uisce agus chuir sé comhfhiosacht ann trí na illiúin bliain de roghnú nádúrtha, ag athrú liathróid carraige neamhthorthùil isteach i radharc coille mar lá earraigh igcoill le míbhinneas de longhaire agus bláthanna fiáin. I mo phost faighim go leor den ceantar áitiúil agus is léir go bhfuilimid ag déanamh carraig neamhthorthúil as an talamh. Timpeallaithe le monashaothrú de féar is crainn, tá an éagsúlacht bheatha den oileán seo chomh teoranta i paiste bìdeach. Tugann an cúrsa tosaíocht do siocair tairbhe thar gach uile agus tá sé ag mianadóireacht an cré, coillte, agus an talamh den Domhain chun beag a saibhriú, agus tugtar bás billiúin den orcas, agus tá speiceas gan áireamh caillte. Léamh me nach fuair an cine daonna ach seans amháin ar sibhialtacht domhanda, mar is tochailte na ábhar atá uaidh chun tosú ceann Dara agus i rith an ama b'fhéidir chrìochfaidh athrú an aeráid an cine daonna. Agus nuair is féidir liom, bainfidh mé sult as an longhaire ó na hiarmhair denár scrios ar Dúlra agus beannfaidh me na locha agus aibhneacha mar ba cosúil dom ar a laghad go bhfuil tabhachtach an gníomh chun athceangal le mo Dhúiche. D'fhág mo sinsear ofrálacha in áiteanna uisciúil freisin, d'óir agus airgead, chun an bá na déithe a bhaint. Thairg mé dearcáin go raibh at m'altóir de snoíodoireachta Ceilteach le sé mí anuas mar bhí sé báite sa grá atá agam do cultúr Ceilteach agus an talamh.

The water falls on the land and later becomes beings who wish to protect the rivers and all the life which water helps to create. The water becomes a guardian of itself through the process of evolution. It evolves to perform self-protection.

I resanctified the Bunnoe River today with an offering of a blessed acorn and a recitation of my water blessing. This inspiration came to me that I had to resanctify the local lakes with offerings and blessings to let them know that I for one acknowledge our oneness and interbeing at a time when superficiality is so prevalent among the masses. This poem stems from my belief in interbeing for example how the ocean interbes with each living thing . Similar to my ancestors I will leave offerings to mysteries I will never understand. It gives a humbleness and openness of spirit to appreciate that Life is a Secret. This river is used as an open drain and is highly polluted with chemicals and fertilizers. It is in great need of resanctifying. A heron was perched on the bank and flew off when I arrived, landing just a little further up the river. I saw a pheasant rambling around in a field nearby. The river is surrounded by barren grasslands and some mixed forestry here. Last year this river was pea soup green with algae caused by too many nutrients from the local intensively farmed pastures. The sides look scarred from where it had been dug to drain it and which has left it lifeless without fish according to a local fisherman. It is in dire need of resanctifying to let her know that this period of trauma for Mother Earth will soon pass. All civilisations come to an end sometime. We will leave our mighty tower of technology and return to nature, our home, and from which we are wrought from soil into consciousness. The genius of nature took rock and water and rendered it into consciousness through billions of years of selection, transforming a barren ball of rock into such joyous sylvan scenes such as a spring day in a forest with the cacophony of birdsong and wildflowers. In my job I get to see so much of the local area and it is clear that we humans are making a barren rock of the Earths surface once again. Surrounded by monocultures of grass and trees the biodiversity of this island has been restricted to tiny patches. A system which prioritises the profit motive over everything else is strip mining the soil, forests and surface of the Earth to enrich a few, while billions starve and countless species are lost. I have read that humanity has gotten only this one chance at a global civilisation, as the required materials for starting a second have all been mined all the while climate change could see the extinction of the human race. So while I can, I will enjoy the birdsong from the survivors of our rampage on nature and I will bless the lakes and rivers because to me at least it seems an important act in reconnecting with Mo Dhúiche ~ my native place. My ancestors left offerings in aqueous locations too, of gold and silver, to gain the favour of the gods. I offered an acorn that had been on my altar of Celtic wood carvings for six months so it had been steeped in the love I have for Celtic culture and the land.
