Brúchtadh Datha ~ Explosion of Colour

I feel like there has been an eruption of a riot of colour and art into my life of late. Meeting new people and exploring creativity are my two most favourite things to do. Sitting in Grogans with the easy going artistic crowd and the art covered walls fulfilled both, meeting poets, comedians, and musicians amongst the crowd and revelling amongst them and telling them about my Celtic paintings on the walls.

A friend told me that my experience with finding solace in nature was similar to Enlightenment. All I know is that it gave me such peace in a world that I felt lost in. Collecting acorns became a focus, a source of hope for the future, at a time when I had lost all faith in Mankind.

There seems to be a pull on my soul ever since I was a boy, pulling me to the hills and lakes, forests and holy places, I find peace therein, where the breath of the ancestors come down the centuries to me, telling me to respect the old ways, my native culture, my native shore, blest are we who enjoy her bounties, her bounties of grandeur and divine grace, her hidden holy ground, her holy wells and sacred groves. Amongst the Irish people live on our ancestors, their tales and legends, the wink and the nod, their little ways of being in this world, so unique to this island. The rich ancient high culture of Ireland lives on, from the illustrated medieval books and the secrets of Classical Irish, we can embroider a new tapestry of a rich Irish culture. I want to merge my interests in arts, but I am letting it occur naturally without forcing it.

And behold, unto me was given the idea to complete an illustration of one of my poems, set amongst natural leaves mingled with Celtic knotwork and La Téne artwork from a local neolithic tomb. And I illustrated the poem in ogham and Irish, giving it a nice little kick of magic to send it straight on it's way into my heart. Such perfection makes me feel that I am on the right track in life, that this is my life purpose, to create art of all kinds to remind others of the importance of the magic in Life. As one friend said, such art is my calling. I am beginning to feel that she is right. The more art I do, the more opportunities I can see ahead of me, and as another friend said, to put what is inside of me out in the world.
